I used an old school method of making a small prototype using square dowels and hot glue gun. When satisfied with shape, I measure the length of each leg and its angle. Then I scaled up the dimensions and drew in Sketchup. From there, I made a real size scale model (i.e maquette) from scrap wood to find any potential flaws in the design. Once everything figured out, I use 1″x1″ square tube and 1/8″ 2″ (x2) flat bar to weld the legs. The rough welding was smoothed and the gaps was filled with 3M Metal Reinforced filler. After sanding and one coat primer, the legs spray coated in black.
